'You know I could never let my city down,' injured rapper says of hometown performance.
Tuesday night, Drake epitomized the term "putting on for his city." Once again, the performer joined Lil Wayne, Pleasure P, Jeremih, Soulja Boy Tell'em and Young Jeezy on the Young Money Presents: The America's Most Wanted Music Festival.
Though he may not have risked his life, the recently injured Drizzy definitely risked his limbs by getting onstage while still suffering from torn ligaments in his knee. But when the tour hit his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, the 22-year-old just could not miss it.
Half-leaning, half-sitting on a stool towards the front of the stage, Drizzy performed during Wayne's set. Drake and Trey Songz joined forces for the underground-smash-turned-radio-darling "Successful."
"I'm the one to paint a vivid picture, no HD," Drizzy rapped. "Dis me and you'll never hear a reply for it."
Songz led the charge on the chorus.
"I want the money, money and the cars, cars and the clothes/ The ho's/ I suppose/ I just wanna be successful."
"You know I could never let my city down," Drake said after his performance.
Drake also called Wayne the greatest entertainer he ever saw and the two hugged. Drake walked offstage with a cane.
There is still no official word on whether Drake will continue with the tour or whether Tuesday night was his final performance. Drake tore his ACL a few weeks ago and then injured another ligament when he fell onstage in Camden, New Jersey.
