Opting out of the average remix, F-a-b-o explained the importance Drizzy played in remixing his hit single.

"Me and Drake, we just met each other in passing on the road," Fab explained in an interview. "We kicked it a few times. We kept ending up in the same circles. Eventually we figured out we wanted to work. I had the remix. I had the beat for a minute...I also didn't just want to do the regular remix, have the same typical remix that everybody is doing where they keep the same beat and get the select few MCs. Drake was new...everybody got wind of Drake behind the success of his mixtape and 'Best I Ever Had.' I figured that would an interesting move. I reached out and he was like, 'Yeah.' I just sent it to him." (MTV)

Drake has been catching the attention of rap veterans as of lately including Nas and LL Cool J.

"It's a lot of talented guys out there," LL explained in an interview. "Lil Wayne is talented. He seems to be the dominant figure in this particular era of hip-hop. So you know, he's doing his thing. I like Drake, you know, that 'You The Best' is a good record...It's a good song. There's a lot of talented guys out there so you know, kudos fellas."
