If Fabolous had his way, “Loso’s Way,” the fifth solo set from the Brooklyn spitter, would still be sitting pretty in a secure hard drive under his supervision. But due to the sly ways of the internet and some irresponsible hands, the 16-track project has landed on various hip-hop blog sites throughout the world. This is not the first time a Fabolous album has been leaked, but “Loso’s Way” traveled a particularly rough road, already suffering two sets of previous song leaks before the album bit the dust early yesterday evening. In mid-April, Fab’s first single, “Throw It in the Bag” featuring The-Dream, an infectious ode to splurging on a significant other, surfaced on the net prematurely and unmastered. But the track received a great response and Fabolous decided to roll with the cut, which in the long run served as the first offering from the project.
Several weeks later, three more cuts from “Loso’s Way” surfaced, all produced by Jermaine Dupri and his So So Def production team, prompting speculation that Dupri was the culprit.
"What the f*ck??," Loso responded furiously via Twitter, "I'm hearing someone in JD's camp is leaking my songs. Aint nothin So So, i thought i knew JD well??" He added, "Was a lil disappointed about the leak sh*t, and dont get me wrong I don’t think its JD himself leakin the songs, but someone in his camp!"
Though Fab would later dismiss his public rant as frustration and confirm there was no tension with Dupri, the internet drama was far from over. Early Monday afternoon (July 14th), “Loso’s Way” hit the 'net in full. Def Jam Records worked to clamp down on the issue, but by then the product had already been passed through too many hands.
The rapper again took to Twitter to offer his views on the matter, this time in a more diplomatic matter. “My album is so dope, even if u downloaded it u should realize that its a good listen, u should definitely buy it 4 ur CD collection.” He added, “'Loso's Way' in stores July 28th. The real people will support real sh*t.”
Fabolous’ “Loso’s Way” hits stores July 28th and features special appearances from Jay-Z, Red Cafe, Jeremih, Kobe, Marsha Ambrosius, The-Dream, Paul Cain, Ne-Yo, Freck Billionaire and Lil Wayne.
