Prodigy Reacts To Michael Jackson’s Death From Behind Bars

XXL reports:

Prodigy, one half of Infamous rap duo Mobb Depp, recently spoke with XXLMag.com to give his thoughts on Michael Jackson’s passing.

P, who is currently serving time behind bars for a gun conviction, apparently had a chance to catch Sunday night’s (June 28) BET Awards – a show that quickly became a MJ tribute with several artists, including host Jamie Foxx, paying respect to the late King of Pop. “Shout out to Jamie Foxx, he did a good job with the BET Awards,” P said.

One of the remarks Foxx made in particular struck a chord with the Queens rapper. “He said everybody used to dress like Michael Jackson when they was a little kid,” Prodigy noted, bringing up the time that Jay-Z exposed a photo of him as a child dressed up like MJ, in order to discredit the MC. “You know I like that part ’cause certain niggas ‘Oh yeah Prodigy had the ‘Beat It’ jacket on when he was eight years old,’ like tryna discredit me like there’s something wrong with that. Nah ain’t nothing wrong with that and everybody knows and it’s sad that Michael Jackson had to die but now everybody’s professing ‘oh I loved Michael Jackson when I was little too.’ Oh now it’s okay.”

“Rest in peace, Michael Jackson,” he added. “Cause I damn sure thought I was Michael when I was a little kid. I wanted to be Michael Jackson, I wanted to be a celebrity like Michael. He did a lotta things I ain’t agree with later on in life but overall that was a good muthafucka right there. That was an excellent person, with his music and what he contributed to the music world. Perfect, excellent.”

50 Cent Says He’s Still No. 1

Despite the decline in sales from 2005’s The Massacre to his last album, 2007’s Curtis, as well as a shift from gangsta rap’s overall popularity, 50 Cent still considers himself to be on top of the rap game. XXLMag.com recently caught up with the self-described “SoundScan Killer” to speak on his place in hip-hop’s current climate, how his sales stack up to Lil Wayne and the undeniable staying power of Jay-Z.

While he admits that mentor Eminem ranks higher than him on the list, Fif is quick to point out his dominance over Weezy. “What does that mean that you sold that,” he told XXL pertaining to Wayne’s last album, Tha Carter III, selling one million copies in its first week out last year. “So you gonna forget that I sold 10 million albums twice -12 million first album, 10 million next one. So what does that one million mean?“ [Watch Below]

Fiddy believes fans are quick to forget his history; getting caught up in whoever is hot at the moment. “What you’re talking about is who is a buzz,” he explained. “A buzz is a song. So the next song that I release can turn me back into what you feel like is the hottest thing out here. So I mean if I’m showing you full capability of it than what makes you doubt that.”

50 points to fellow heavyweight Jay-Z, who he feels consistently finds a way to stay relevant. “There’s a respect that is well deserved on Jay-Z’s part because he’s had that cloud come over him and constantly worked his way through it, having so many projects come out and be successful and maintain meaning,” he said. “There’s a significance in it. Because they go, after countless amounts of hit records, they go ‘You think you can go out and do it again’. Ask me if I think he can do it again, ‘hell yeah,’ cause he did it how many times in front of us. What makes you think he can’t do it again”

“We get those moments where people decide to doubt and I’m fine with it,” he adds. “You know and then they’ll change their mind and I’ll tell em suck my dick, kiss my ass and everything else at the same time because they decided to doubt for that small time period.”

50 is currently prepping the release of his long-delayed fourth solo album, Before I Self Destruct. As of press time there is no solid date but it is rumored to be dropping in late fourth quarter

Young Money CEO Cortez Bryant Speaks on Drake’s Distribution Deal

In one of hip-hop’s most drawn-out bidding wars, Drake has finally inked a deal with Universal Republic, according to Young Money’s Cortez Bryant.

Bryant says the Toronto rapper was already signed to Young Money Entertainment, but signed his distribution deal on Sunday.“[We were looking for] all the creative control and all the say-so over the project,” said Bryant, “the person who gave us the sweetest deal.”

Drake, who Bryant says is ecstatic about the signing, will appear on one of two follow-up singles to Young Money’s hit “Every Girl,” slated to drop in the next two weeks.

Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later, has no release date, but Bryant says the Young Money group album is expected to drop late this year, on the same day as Lil Wayne’s The Rebirth.

Aside from becoming 2009’s most buzzed new artist after releasing his So Far Gone mixtape, Drake has gained fans in fellow rappers.

Jay-Z will reportedly feature the newcomer on his first single for his forthcoming album, Blueprint 3. And Nas recently sang Drake’s praises in an interview with the Omaha World-Herald. “He’s here to show anybody who questions him that he’ll get at you,” Nas said of Drizzy. “He’s like fresh water right now on dry land.”

Drake goes on tour next month along with Weezy, Soulja Boy, and Young Jeezy for the Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival. The first concert stop is July 27, in Scranton, PA.

Neither MICHAEL JACKSON nor DEBBIE ROWE are the Biological Parents!

According to bossip.com, before Michael passed away we asked our readers if they thought the kids were his. Out of 10,000 votes, roughly, 8600 of you said “no”…you all were right:

We’ve learned Michael Jackson was not the biological father of any of his children. And Debbie Rowe is not the biological mother of the two kids she bore for Michael. All three children were conceived in vitro — outside the womb.

Multiple sources deeply connected to the births tell us Michael was not the sperm donor for any of his kids. Debbie’s eggs were not used. She was merely the surrogate, and paid well for her services in the births of Michael Jr. and Paris.

In the case of Prince Michael II (the youngest), we’re told the surrogate was never told of the identity of the “receiving parent” — Michael Jackson. Three days after Prince was born at Grossmont Hospital in San Diego County, Jackson’s lawyer came to the hospital to pick the baby up and deliver him to Michael. We do not know if Jackson chose the sperm or egg donors or if he even knew who they were.
Although Rowe is not the biological mother, it’s not a slam dunk that she would lose a custody battle. This type of case has never been litigated in California courts.

Since Rowe was married to Jackson when Michael Jr. and Paris were born, there’s a presumption that she’s the biological parent. That presumption can be rebutted by other evidence.

We know there are documents outlining the whole arrangement for the birth of all three kids. Nonetheless, it’s still an open issue with the courts.

Nas: "Drake Is Like Fresh Water"

In an interview with The Omaha-World Herald, Nasir says Aubrey is two parts hydrogen, one part oxygen.

So who is that guy for you? Who are you listening to?
Drake and always Scarface.

Why?
Drake is new. (He's a rapper from Toronto.) He's here to show anybody who questions him that he'll get at you. He's like fresh water right now on dry land. Scarface is the realist rapper. He's the most musically serious, besides Kanye (West), right now. What Scarface says in his rhymes is real. You can't get away from (Lil) Wayne right now. So that's what I'm listening to. Jay-Z Shut Down Chris Brown at the BET Awards

The Source has confirmed that Jay-Z threatened to cancel his performance at last night's BET Awards if Chris Brown was allowed to perform his scheduled tribute to Michael Jackson. Though Brown had rehearsed for the show three days in advance, Jay-Z used his considerable influence to shut him down, most likely as a form of revenge against the singer, who has been charged with domestic abuse against Rihanna. As a result of this last-minute decision, Ne-Yo and Jamie Foxx were forced to play extra songs to fill up time in the broadcast.

Michael Jackson's Last Photos From His Concert Rehearsal 2 Days Before His Death

Just two days before he died, Michael Jackson practiced his moves during a rehearsal at Staples Center in L.A. for the London concerts.

These images were taken of Michael Jackson on June 23, 2009 at the Staples Center during rehearsals for his upcoming 50-date concert engagement at the 02 Arena in London.

The concerts were set to begin on July 13 and last through the beginning of March 2010.

It's Official: Drake Signs With Lil Wayne's Young Money Label

Mixtapes are a movement. For some, giving away music could mean much more than trying to sell their tunes — but Drake played the game right. He started giving away his mixtape So Far Gone earlier this year, and the word of mouth spread with fans, his peers and record-company executives: a recent New York concert found [Warner Music exec] Lyor Cohen in the crowd, standing among screaming fans, including Kanye West and Talib Kweli.

Well, the wait is over: After weeks of speculation, Drake has chosen to go with the home team and sign with Lil Wayne's Young Money Records, according to a source close to the situation. The deal breaks down as a joint venture between Young Money and Cash Money, with Universal Republic distributing. Drake's management was adamant that he should be viewed as an independent artist, although Universal will distribute the project.

"Today is a definitely a comfortable day for me, having my team now that's been in place for a couple of years. It's just a great day," Drake said. "It's something new, but it feels familiar."

Drizzy is excited about having a corporate push to help with the momentum he's gained independently.

"Independent is a funny term," he told MTV News on the set of his video for "Best I Ever Had." "I can go independent, but you need distribution, period. You need somebody to distribute your record and you need that army that a label has to really push the record."
So Far Gone became this year's most talked-about mixtape because, in effect, Drake combines the best of both worlds by being a strong singer and rapper. His singing talent is prominent on the tracks "HoustonAtlantaVegas," "Little Bit" and "A Night Off"; his rapping on songs like "Uptown" and "Ignorant Sh--" is as sharp as a broken bottle in a barroom brawl. He rhymes are just as strong: "The game needs change and I'm the muthaf----n' cashier" (from "Successful"); "Account's in the minus, yet I'm rolling round the f---ing city like your highness" ("Say What's Real").

His popularity has gotten so strong that Drake performed — along with Weezy and the Young Money crew — in a prime slot at the BET Awards on Sunday night.

Drake's official debut LP, Thank Me Later, is currently in production and due later this year, with Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Jay-Z listed as possible collaborators. This summer, look for Drake on tour with Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Soulja Boy Tell'em as part of the Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Music Festival.

The rapper was officially indicted days after allegedly turning himself into police last week.

A rapper once signed by Jay-Z was indicted yesterday on a charge of fatally stabbing a man at Club Pacha in Hell's Kitchen on June 15. Details on his arrest spread online last Thursday (June 25).

Rosado, 33, is jailed in Rikers Island on charges of murder, assault and weapons possession, police said. Jay-Z Tags LeBron James For "Death Of Autotune" Music Video Debut

Jay-Z's highly-aniticipated "Death of Autotune" music video officially premiered Sunday (June 28) night following the BET Awards 2009 ceremony.
Click here to find out more!

The video marks Jay's latest album single since 2007's American Gangster.

Introduced by BET personality Big Tigger, the video opens with an abandoned alley way as a car pulls up. The rap mogul is seen dressed in all black with shades and his latest grown-out hairstyle as he exits the vehicle and enters through a graffiti-laced door and goes up an elevator. With anticipation building, Jay is seen walking through dark rooms before flipping on a switch as the song's intro beats kick-in. Additional shots in the video show Jay eating in a restaurant but met with an initial confrontation, an "A" chain being blown up, likely representing the 'death' of autotune. The rapper also tagged movie stars and the NBA's Most Valuable Player, LeBron James. Hov is seen in the final minute of "D.O.A" getting his hair cut. The end credits also show Blueprint 3 being released under Roc Nation. ("Death of Autotune")

Jay-Z, Lil Wayne & Drake Turn Swag On, MJ Honored At BET Awards

Jay-Z and Lil Wayne highlighted a memorable evening of performances at last night’s (June 28) BET Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, a night which also payed tribute to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Weezy, who took home the statue for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, closed the show alongside his Young Money crew with “Every Girl.” YM affiliate Drake kicked off the medley with his breakthrough single “Best I Ever Had,” resigning himself to a stool due to a torn ACL which prevented a more mobile performance.

Hov hit the stage earlier in the evening for the lead single from his eagerly-awaited Blueprint 3, “D.O.A. [Death of Auto-Tune].” The song’s video world premiered during the awards’ After Party show. Beyoncé was just one of many R&B performers on the night, most of whom Michael Jackson, including host Jamie Foxx— who wore an assortment of signature MJ outfits— New Edition, Ne-Yo, and Ciara. Towards the end of the evening, a shaken Janet Jackson, who was in attendance with her father Joseph, took the stage to represent her family and address her brother’s passing.

Another notable moment included Soulja Boy’s performance of his hit “Turn My Swag On.” SB walked off into the audience to give Kanye West a pound during the crowd favorite.

Along with Weezy, other rappers who went home with awards included M.I.A. for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and T.I. for Viewers’ Choice for his #1 hit, “Live Your Life” featuring Rihanna.-

Coolio Pleads Guilty, Heading To Rehab

Last Friday (June 26) in Los Angeles, West Coast rapper Coolio pleaded guilty to cocaine possession.

The verdict stems from the rapper’s arrest on March 6 at Los Angeles International Airport.

Coolio was attempting to board a flight when authorities found the illegal drug in his luggage.

At the time of his apprehension, Coolio was also slapped with a resisting arrest charge for tussling with officers.

Under the terms of his plea deal, Coolio (Artis Leon Ivey, Jr) will report to an 18-month drug rehabilitation program.

Successful completion of this program will prevent the Grammy winner from serving a maximum three year jail sentence.

In addition, Coolio’s other charges of battery and possession of a smoking device have been dropped. The rapper has completed 7 albums in his 15 year career.

Of those LPs, 3 have been certified by the RIAA: It Takes a Thief (Platinum), Gangsta’s Paradise (2X Platinum), and My Soul (Gold).

His latest album, Steal Hear, was released last October.

Coolio’s most recent work was an early 2009 stint on the UK’s “Celebrity Big Brother”

Clipse Claim “Best Duo Ever” Title At NY Sneaker Pimps Concert

The Clipse proclaimed itself the best rap twosome ever Friday night (June 26) as they closed out Sneaker Pimps’s New York City tour stop.

“Third times a charm from the best duo ever,” promised Malice, as he and Pusha T performed “Kinda Like A Big Deal,” the lead single from their forthcoming third album, Til The Casket Drops.

The Thorton Brothers were among a handful of rap acts represented on the night’s bill, which also featured Midwestern pair The Cool Kids, OutKast half Big Boi, D-Block general Jadakiss and XXL alum Wale.

Set in Manhattan’s Terminal 5, the event was a hipster heaven. Behind the stage was a caged off skateboard ramp, where boarders kick-pushed from side to side. Meanwhile, in the venue’s standing room, graphic tees and exclusive Nike Dunks and Jordan kicks were on display for guests to purchase.

Performances were tailored to the sneaker culture, too. Wale, the night’s first notable performer, joked with the crowd about shoe sizes before launching into his radar-evading smash “Nike Boots.” Other tracks, like “Chillin’” and “Go Mode” got lukewarm responses, with one daring audience member demanding Wale exit the stage.

“I got some niggas that want to beat the shit out of you right now,” Wale told the detractor, before leading the rest of the crowd into a back-and-forth chant of “Hater.”

The Cool Kids were next on the lineup, rocking bass-heavy, cult favorites like “I (Mikey) Rock,” “Black Mags,” and “88,” which was mixed with Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story” melody.

While Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish’s somewhat repetitive old-school vibe grew tiring, hometown rep Jadakiss was the clear crowd favorite. Fans were drunk off nostalgia as the Lox star breezed though classics like “Wild Out” and “Blood Pressure,” as well as newer cuts like “Smoking Gun” and “Who’s Real.”

Jada’s energy lacked, but Big Boi injected a much-needed jolt, keeping the remnants of the slimming crowd dancing to “I Like The Way You Move” and “Kryptonite,” and previewing tracks from his upcoming album, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.

Short on time, Clipse kept it short and street, emerging on stage to their modern classic “Grindin’” followed by “Keys Open Doors.”

Sneaker Pimps, the world’s largest touring sneaker hip-hop lifestyle exhibition, hits Philadelphia next, on July 9.

Bernie Madoff Gets 150 Years In The Bing

NEW YORK — Bernard Madoff has apologized to his family and to the victims of his multibillion-dollar fraud scheme.

The 71-year-old financier said Monday at his sentencing that he "will live with this pain, this torment, for the rest of my life."

Madoff says that he dug himself "deeper into a hole" as the scheme progressed.

Attorney Ira Sorkin says the 150 years in prison recommended by prosecutors or the 50 years recommended by the federal probation department are excessive.

Victims who lost millions of dollars earlier urged a stiff sentence for the former Nasdaq stock market chairman.

Madoff has pleaded guilty to securities fraud and other charges in March and has been jailed ever since.

MICHAEL JACKSON'S Child Molestation Accuser Lied & MJ's Autopsy Results

According to Bossip.com, the kid that said Michael Jackson touched him just came out and said he lied. He is saying his pops wanted loot being behind the reason of the false accusation. Also, reports from the initial autopsy are not good:

An autopsy on Michael Jackson revealed that the King of Pop’s emaciated body was riddled with needle marks and scars, and his head was virtually bald, it was reported today.

Jackson’s body had wasted away to a mere 112 pounds, and his stomach was completely empty except for partially dissolved pills, according to the London Sun.

Those handlers/killers/thieves of his need to be brought in!

After the sudden death of Michael Jackson Evan Chandler tells the truth. Evan- ”Now for the first time i can’t bare to lie anymore. Michael Jackson didn’t do anything to me, all of this was my father lies to escape from being poor.”

In 1993, Chandler told a psychiatrist and police that he and Jackson had engaged in sexual acts that included oral sex, the boy gave detailed description of Jackson’s genitals. The case was settled out of court for a reported $22 million, but the strain led Jackson to begin taking painkillers. Eventually he became addicted.

Now maybe for the remorse of his death Chandler decides to tell us the truth. ” I never meant to lie and destroy Michael Jackson but my father made me to tell only lies. Now i can’t tell Michael how much i’m sorry and if he will forgive me ”.Evan Chandler was tape-recorded saying amongst other things, “If I go through with this, I win big-time. There’s no way I lose. I will get everything I want and they will be destroyed forever…

Under the influence of a controversial father (Jordan Chandler) told his son to tell that Jackson had touched his penis.Jordan Chandler then told a psychiatrist and later police that he and Jackson had engaged in acts of kissing, masturbation and oral sex, as well as giving a detailed description of what he alleged were the singer’s genitals.

"Now for the first time i can’t bare to lie anymore. Michael Jackson didn’t do anything to me, all was my father lies to escape from being poor."

The reason we have not reported on this Jordan story is because of the credibility. We want you to know that him retracting his accusations may not be necessarily true, but we felt it was our duty to give you the hottest gossip and rumor.

The Alchemist Gives Prodigy Prison Update, "He's Writing & I'm Making The Beats"

Mobb Deep associate The Alchemist recently updated fans on the well-being of incarcerated rapper Prodigy and promised, despite serving a prison sentence, P has been working on his rhymes.
Click here to find out more!

In addition to revealing how he's sending Prodigy beats, Alchemist also said any production he makes for the rapper will be off-limits to other emcees for the time being.

"In all actuality, I am actually putting beats on cassettes and sending them to P," Al revealed in an interview. "P made a couple of power moves and he got himself a hold of some paper and he wrote...there's a good chance that he'll still have them when he's released. Anybody who's that interested [with the beats] will just have to wait until the god P comes home and then we'll see what happens. But just know that music doesn't stop. We have telephones and paper and communication and he's writing and I'm making the beats and you can pretty much gurantee that we're going to make some pretty good sh*t. We're both conscious of what we've already made and we're not going to make the same sh*t. We're both staying working and it's nothing. The world ain't ready." (Hip Hop Game)

Al previously spoke on visiting Prodigy and the change in music since he reported to jail in early 2008.

"Free P," Al exclaimed in an interview. "That's my man. I support him all the way. I see him frequently and he's doing real good just as far as the fans who wanted to know what's up, he's doing real good, he's healthy. It's working out, his mind is right. He's on some real positive, like the only way I can say and the way I feel is the way the music is, in general these days, not saying it's good or bad but by the way the current state of music is and how I feel it's gonna get in the next year or so, by the time he comes home which should be about a year, a year and a half, he's just gonna be like medicine. BET Awards To Honor Jackson's Memory

With the death of Michael Jackson taking the country—and the world—by surprise, one question has been lingering in the minds of several: how will this year’s BET Awards honor the King of Pop?

All questions will be answered this Sunday.

According to an Associated Press report, several artists, including Ne-Yo and Beyonce will alter their performances to honor Jackson.

"To change it up in three days is something that's not easy but they're all willing and looking forward to it," BET executive Stephen Hill said Friday. "There's a direct line from Ne-Yo to Michael Jackson. There's a direct line from Beyonce to Michael Jackson. There's a direct line from Jay-Z to Michael Jackson. I think they'll want to pay tribute in their own way."

The entire show will be dedicated to Jackson’s memory, Hill said.

While the performance revisions are a tall order, Hill acknowledges this once in a lifetime moment to pay homage to Jackson.

"There will be another awards show, so if this one changes, that's fine," he said. "There will not be another Michael Jackson."

Jackson’s relationship with BET goes back years. Founder and former owner Bob Johnson told Michael Eric Dyson that Jackson insisted that BET have the same access to his videos as the original music video giant MTV.

Fabolous Pleads For Rap Game Balance, "They Trying To Force Us Out"

Fabolous recently spoke on the rap game's need for balance and why he felt it was necessary to provide both the streets and women a fair share of his brand.
Click here to find out more!

In addition to balance, Fab also pointed out, in his opinion, the lack of Southern radio support for New York artists.

"I'm just trying to hold it down for the city, you know what I mean," he told radio personality DJ Kay Slay. "We gotta keep pushing from all angles, they trying to force us out. Not really trying to force us out, but take over. We need balance. Everybody can shine but we need balance and New York gotta get in where we fit in, too...[Listening to New York radio] I hear all the people they try to keep away from mainstream radio. I love everything that everybody's doing but you definitely need balance 'cause I come from that era where you had balance in hip-hop. You had De La Soul but you had hardcore stuff too...You don't hear nothing [on Southern radio]. You might have something classic, like iconic, they don't cross that line...It's a balance too with me because I came from the mixtapes and the streets, but at the same time, I knew once you get to a bigger level and can get seen on TV, you wanna appeal to the ladies as well." Up-and-coming Canadian rapper Drake may have a lot of buzz but 50 Cent says it's nothing close to what he had back in 2002 slash 2003. [watch here] With Co-Signs from Lil Wayne, Kanye West and even Jay-Z, Drake's buzz has been compared that of 50's but fif says "I didn’t hear that, I don’t think you can accomplish that right now." [watch here] 50 talked about his buzz prior to signing with Eminem saying you can't compare it to Drake as he didn't have help from radio. "Not without finance. I hear his record on the radio. He got a good buzz, I hear him. Shit, it wasn’t possible for my music to be on the radio when I was coming. You know mine’s was completely organic." [watch here]

50 says he thinks the music industry itself is pushing Drake, something they didn't do for him. "When you hear a song on the radio it means it’s being worked," he explained. [watch here] "Ain’t nothing there just because, enough for it to be playing every hour on the hour. That song is being worked like he’s on a label. You know I’m sure Sylvia Rhone or Universal — they’re spending money to get the record played. They got the public feeling like its just happening." [watch here]

When 50 was reminded that Drake hasn't even signed to a label yet, 50 said "He might not be signed yet, but they may work it to get him to sign. Is it worth it to sign until you develop that?"

SMH Perez Hilton's Alleged First Reaction To Michael Jackson's Reports

He also edited the old post to remove the statement, even going as far as removing comments from users on the site who were backlashing against him for his insensitivity.

Hilton has managed to remove most of the evidence of this first post... but he didn't change the picture before I got a screenshot.

Transformers 2 Sets Box Office Record For Wednesday Opening Taking In Over 60 Million Dollars 1st Day

The TRANSFORMERS sequel is smashing box office records in America after taking in more than $60 million (GBP40 million) in its first day on release. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has been savaged by critics, but the bad press isn't keeping film fans away from cinemas.
In its first 24 hours, the film claimed the best Wednesday gross of all-time and second biggest single-day gross in U.S. box office history.
Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix previously held the best single day Wednesday total of $44.2 million (GBP29.4 million).
But the new Transformers film was $7 million (GBP4.6 million) shy of tying The Dark Knight's overall single-day record, which was set last year (08).
As previously reported by WENN, the film made $16 million (GBP10.6 million) from midnight screenings in America on Tuesday night (23Jun09).

T.I. Attacker Gets 17 Years In Prison For 2006 Murder

The man responsible for helping in the 2006 murder of T.I.'s friend and assistant Philant Johnson has been sentenced to 17 years in prison.

Padron Thomas appeared before a judge on Wednesday (June 24).

U.S. District Judge Sandra Beckwith sentenced Thomas to 17 years in prison on drug conspiracy and gun charges. Thomas, 41, became a key player in both the conspiracy case and the gun battle case when he agreed last year to cooperate with authorities. He testified in December against his brother, Hosea Thomas, who was sentenced to 66 years for shooting to death Philant "Big Phil" Johnson. Padron Thomas said he drove the car on May 3, 2006, when his brother exchange gunfire with members of Harris' entourage, which had been involved in a dispute with Hosea Thomas at a bar earlier that night. (Cincinnati News)
Tip testified last fall and recounted what happened during the shoot-out.

Describing the aftermath, T.I. explained what happened when he noticed Johnson laying prone, after being shot in the head. "We called Phil's name out, Phil didn't respond," T.I. said. When asked what his friend looked like, he responded: "Lifeless." "I saw blood running down his face, his shirt was wet...He had an injury wound to the left temple." Three other members were reportedly wounded, however Tip did not suffer any injuries. (Associated Press)
Despite testifying against his brother and possibly facing no prison time, Padron still landed nearly 20 years behind bars.

Timbaland On Scott Storch, "I Told Him Sometimes He's Weak"

Hitmaker Timbaland recently discussed his past relationship with Scott Storch and the producer's inability to ignore his camp's gossip, which allegedly sparked their 2007 beef.

Speaking with radio personality DJ Whoo Kid, Timbo revealed the advantages Scott had when he worked alongside himself and Dr. Dre.

"I can't beef with a guy, we had a serious friendship," Timbaland said in an interview. "He worked with me for years, after he stopped working with Dre, he started working with me. And the dude is hot, the boy is hot. I think he's good on his own but when me and Dre got him together, we bring something outta Scott you've never seen...You know what it is, his crew and everybody getting to him got to him. I'ma bigger person and I told Scott sometimes he's weak. And everybody's getting in his ear blah, blah blah...and it's not even like that...Scott has gone through a lot of pain...You gotta be patient [with the industry hate] because you can't feed into it. I'm 30-something years old, freak I look like feeding into somebody whose 20-something years old?" (Radio Planet TV)

Storch previously justified his music beef with Tim based on the producer's "piano man" reference on 2007's "Give It To Me."

"I just felt like enough was enough," Storch said in a past interview. "I heard the song playing, and I knew it was about me. People were calling me saying, 'This dude is taking shots at you,' then interviews popped up. So enough was enough. I needed to defend myself like a man is supposed to do. I'm not gonna take it to the streets or hurt somebody or do any bullsh*t like that. But I just had to speak up. I'm not a rapper, but I wasn't about to have somebody else fight my battle for me." Jae Millz Denies Robbery Rumors, Talks Young Money

Jae Millz addressed rumors of a reported robbery on the set of Drake’s “The Best I Ever Had” video. Millz asserted to HipHopDX that while there was an attempt made to steal his jewelry, it was unsuccessful and he remains in possession of said personal belongings.

“I did not get robbed,” said Millz. “I don’t even care if you put the audio of what I’m saying right now on the Internet, I don’t give a fuck. This is Jae Millz on HipHopDX.com making it official right now. I’m going to let y’all know right now, all these rumors about a nigga cough up his jewels or a nigga came up off of his items or something like that at my man Drake’s video shoot…in Brooklyn, New York [aren’t true]."

The Harlem rapper did confirm that there was an attempted robbery though. "Shit happened, the niggas tried to pull a fast move on me, ain’t nothing happened, though. I ain’t come up off of nothing. I’m still shining, I’ve still got what I came to the video shoot with. When you see the video, you’re going to see what I came to the video shoot with, so I don’t really got to talk about it. I’m not up here trying to sound crazy [and] talk like it can’t happen. Shit happens. Remember it just didn’t happen.”

In 2008, Millz announced he had signed a joint-venture deal with Lil Wayne’s [click to read] newly founded Young Money Entertainment. Speaking with DX, the rapper admitted that since signing that deal, Millz says that things have only gotten better for him.

“It definitely [does feel like it’s gone from good to better],” said Millz. “If everybody doesn’t know, [Young Money]’s got one of the biggest songs in the country right now ['Every Girl']. If you don’t believe me, you can go on Billboard. Shout out to Drake, Drake’s got the number one song in the country right now ['Best I Ever Had'], so that’s definitely a good situation. It’s all Young Money. But it definitely went from a good situation to a better situation. Wayne just came off of the I Am Music Tour, so we did that. We were out there for about half a year. It was a good situation…that was my first time being on a tour, traveling in tour buses, selling out arenas and all of that, so I really got a chance to see a lot. [We’re] recording the Young Money compilation. We’re just about to finish that up. [We’ve got] 'Every Girl,' and just seeing how the song took off, it’s a good situation.”

Signing with Young Money not only afforded Jae Millz the opportunity to work with one of the top emcees in the game, but it also gave him the chance to venture into previously uncharted musical territory: working within a group. Millz notes that the transition from strictly solo work to making music with Young Money was foreign at first, but that after awhile, the group bonded together and became more like a family than a group of artists.
“At first, I’m not going to lie, [working in the Young Money group] was kind of awkward,” admitted the Harlem emcee. “It was kind of awkward going from the, ‘Oh, I’m Jae Millz, and I’ve got this album coming out,’ you know, you’re really like a solo artist. You’re like a one-man band in a way. [In Young Money], you’ve got Lil Chucky, he’s 13, you’ve got Lil Twist, he’s 16, you’ve got Nicki Minaj [click to read], you’ve got Drake, you’ve got Mack Maine, you’ve got Gudda Gudda, you’ve got T-Streets, you’ve got Tyga, and at the end of all that, you’ve got Lil Wayne and the newest edition of Omarion. It’s a lot of different personalities, different characters you’re dealing with, but [Wayne] did right thing taking us all on tour. He took us all on tour with him, and we kind of got a chance to become family. We’re really like a big family.”

He later added, “It’s like some people that you know are going to spit some shit, you know you’re going to spit some shit, it’s just going to come out crazy, like if I can’t come up with a hook, I know Wayne’s got one. If Wayne ain’t got one, I know Nicki or Mack got one. If I’m stuck on a bar or something, [it’s like] ‘Yo Gudda, how do you think this sounds?’ [Wayne] does the same thing with us. When Wayne’s recording, he might be like...he’s not certain of what he’s saying, He ain’t going to go to too many people, but he’s going to go to his people. He’ll definitely come to us [to spit] his verse…before he goes in the booth just to get our okay, not that it really matters. That’s the communication. It ain’t a secretive thing, like ‘Y’all are going to hear my verse when I go in the booth.’ We’re working, so it’s a good atmosphere. I like recording more with them than I do by myself.”

In addition to the musical liberties the label offers, Young Money Entertainment as a business venture is “an eye-opener” for the Harlem rapper. He explains that while other record labels turn making music into work, Young Money ensures that the process is more organic and creative. He also describes how unlike other artists who start labels, Lil Wayne’s motivations stem from musical intrigue and not monetary gain.

“Me and Wayne were on the same label as solo artists, so I got a chance to see what the business was like before I got down with Young Money,” explained Millz. “Before he even thought about starting Young Money, [Wayne] got a chance to see what the business was like…[and] those days are over. The A&R days, an the person executive producing your album on the label, those days are over. You don’t see A&Rs in the studio. You don’t see executive producers and all of that in the studio anymore. You barely see a producer and an artist in the studio [together]. They send you the beat, you do it…niggas are doing too much of this sending the record to the artist and the artist sending it back…that’s why it’s getting to the point where at Young Money, we’re doing our own music. Lil Twist just did a song for me called I Feel Me.' Wayne’s doing songs on the Young Money album and he did the majority of The Rebirth album. He makes beats. He knows how to play drums and play the guitar…the piano and keyboard and all that…so we don’t need to go to producers for beats. We just do it because it makes better music.”

We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

Jackson had 13 number one hits during his solo career.

Michael Jordan's Son Jeffery Jordan Quit Illinois Basketball.

Jeff Jordan has elected not to return to the Illinois basketball program, the school announced Wednesday. The son of Michael Jordan will continue his studies at the school.

"I loved playing for the Fighting Illini and appreciate the support I was given by my teammates, coaches and the great fans here," Jordan said. "But I have come to the point where I¹m ready to focus on life after basketball. I will concentrate on earning my degree from the University of Illinois and the opportunities that await upon graduating."

Jordan, a preferred walk-on who would go on scholarship, played in 59 games, with 58 points, 42 assists and 24 rebounds. Jordan averaged 8.4 minutes as a sophomore after playing 5.3 minutes per game as a true freshman.

"Jeff was an invaluable member of our team the past two seasons and I thank him for his contribution to our program," coach Bruce Weber said. "He brought great work ethic to the gym and pushed himself, as well as his teammates, each and every day to improve. We will miss him, but we fully support the decision he has made. When the game of basketball has been a top priority throughout your life, it is very difficult to transition away from playing. I know Jeff has given this much thought. He is an outstanding, mature young man who will be successful in whatever areas he pursues in the future."
