Dr. Dre Resurfaces In Dr. Pepper Campaign, Detox Finally Coming?

Is Dr. Dre's long-awaited Detox album on its way? Yea, we know, this question is been asked so many time, no one really cares what the answer is. However, it seems as though it might be true.

Of course, Eminem recently made a comeback with Relapse, and now Dre might be next. He's starting to surface in different places now.

Dr. Dre will be featured in a new ad campaign for Dr. Pepper called "Trust Me, I'm A Doctor", which is slated to begin airing Monday (June 1).

In the short commercial spot, not only does Dre predominately feature his Beats By Dre headphones, but he also teases music fans with little sample of the mythical Detox project. A beat is played for a few seconds at the commercial's end.

"Scientific tests prove when you drink Dr. Pepper slow, the 23 flavors taste even better. For me, slow always produces a hit," Dr. Dre says in the commercial, before placing a can of Dr. Pepper over the DJ's record, which slows down the record. "Slower is better -- trust me, I'm a doctor."

The primetime spot seems to be the start of promotion for Dre's upcoming album. Let's hope it is.

Detox is currently slated for a late 2009 release, via Aftermath / Interscope.

Nas a No-Show at Canada Concert ,Why ?

An anticipated Nas concert turned ugly last night in Torbay, Newfoundland when the legendary lyricist failed to show.

The show was scheduled for a St. John’s venue, and featured Canadian artist Kardinal Offishall in an opening set.

As the night wore on, fans became enraged upon the realization that Nas would not be performing.

“The crowd [was] getting out of control," stated CBC News reporter Zach Goudie. "By 10:30, Nas still hadn't taken the stage, and it started to become obvious he wasn't coming. There was a lot of beer can throwing … and very quickly the police were called in by security.”

Police later confirmed that several fans were arrested at the scene.

Although the reason for Nas’ absence has not been confirmed, rumors allege the Queensbridge star did show up in town, but could not come to re-negotiation terms with the concert’s promoter, who allegedly lost the show money to an unscrupulous middle man.

Nas next album, the Damian Marley duet LP Distant Relatives, is scheduled to be released on June 23.

At press time, it is unknown if Nas will reschedule the St. John’s event

Soulja Boy Offers iSouljaBoyTellEm For Just $2.99

Teen rapper Soulja Boy has always been ahead of the curve, as far as promoting himself with new technology.

After getting signed thanks to the enormous fanbase he built online, the rapper released one of the biggest singles of 2007/2008 with "Crank That (Soulja Boy)", launching his career into the mainstream.

This year, despite being written off as a one-hit wonder, Soulja Boy returned with his sophomore album iSouljaBoyTellem, producing two more chart toppers with the singles "Kiss Me Thru The Phone" and "Turn My Swag On."

Using technology again, he's offering fans -- for a limited time -- the chance to buy his new album, in MP3 format, for just $2.99 via Amazon's MP3 store.

Eminem is the Biggest Selling Artist of the Decade, Nelly and JayZ make top10

Eminem, who was born 2-1/2 years after the Beatles broke up, is the only artist who has sold more albums in this decade than the fabled foursome. Eminem's new album Relapse sold 608,000 copies this week, lengthening his lead as the artist who has sold the most albums in the 2000s. The rap superstar has sold 31,127,000 albums since the first week of January 2000. In second place: The Beatles, who have sold 27,591,000 albums in the same period. (That's not bad for a group that broke up in 1970.) The Beatles have done better in this decade relative to the competition than they did in the ‘90s, when they were the #5 album-selling act..

Only four of the top 20 album sellers of the 1990s also rank among the top 20 album sellers so far in the 2000s. The Fab Four is joined by Metallica, Alan Jackson and Celine Dion. Nielsen/SoundScan, which has tracked sales for Billboard since 1991, doesn't carry a list of the top album sellers of the 2000s on its site. But the information is all there, if you know where to look (and can do simple subtraction).

1. Eminem, 31,127,000. First charted: 1999. Eminem, 36, is the top male artist and the top rap artist so far in this decade. His 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP is his best-seller. It has sold 10,178,000 copies.

Notibles:

7. Nelly, 21,206,000. First charted: 2000. Nelly, 34, is the #1 new artist to emerge in this decade, edging out Linkin Park. He's also the #1 African American artist, edging out Jay-Z, and the #2 rap artist. Nelly's 2000 debut, Country Grammar, is his best-selling album. It has sold 8,454,000 copies.
(EVEN with the failure of his last albu, Brass Knuckel)

10. Jay-Z, 19,379,000. First charted: 1996. Jay-Z, 39, is the #3 rap artist of the decade. 2003's The Black Album is his best-selling album of this decade. It has sold 3,338,000 copies. Jay-Z was the #152 album-selling act of the ‘90s.

Rihanna and Chris Brown's Making-Out Pics Unveiled

Three photos of Rihanna and Chris Brown's happiest moment have been unveiled. The pics are believed to be taken when they still became a couple. In a black and white photo, Rihanna, who wears big sunglasses, is seen cuddling to Chris.

Then, in two other photos, the couple is seen lying on a bed. The 21-year-old songstress is photographed trying to kiss her boyfriend in a shot. In another pic, Chris is snapped kissing the Barbados-born singer on her neck.

This isn't the first time photos of Rihanna and Chris Brown being published. Earlier this month, a number of her nude pictures, showed her exposing her bottoms and breasts, were leaked online. Chris was also featured in one pic, wearing pink panties on his head. All the photos allegedly were taken in the bedroom and bathroom of a hotel, where the couple previously stayed.

In related news, Rihanna's attorney Donal Etra confirmed that the "Umbrella" singer will testify as a witness against her estranged boyfriend in Los Angeles County Superior Court on June 22. Brown was charged with felony battery and making criminal threats for beating her on February 8, just hours before their scheduled performance at 2009 Grammy Awards.

Jim Jones Says He Is The Diplomats

Byrd Gang leader Jim Jones recently talked about his Dipset career and the importance of online marketing and even his recent deal with DJ Webstar. [watch here] "There's no difference man, Diplomats, Jim Jones is all the same thing whether I was with a group or if I was solo, I'd still be here doing this," Jones said in an interview. "Shout-outs to everyone in the Diplomats, Juelz [Santana], [Freekey] Zeeky and Cam['ron]. It's been a long road, we put our work in to get to where we're at today. I just did another deal with E1, a duet deal with me and Webstar."

Jones made sure not to miss out on a chance to promote his upcoming projects. "I got the documentary coming out, I did an independent movie, I got a lot of music on the airwaves right now...It's just like any other hustle, it began to change, when crack came, they had to switch it up and learn how to hustle crack, ya dig? Internet is rockin', you better get your hustle together and get your viral sh*t on and poppin'."

Will 50 and Em Make Joint Album?

Recently on BET's "106 & Park," 50 Cent spoke on how he, Eminem and Dr. Dre are probably the most powerful crew of artists in the music business today. Dre's a legend, Eminem is rolling — his Relapse went #1 last week — and Fif has been very successful as well. But since 50 and Em are so tight, will we ever see the two of them make an entire LP together? DJ Whoo Kid says the project has been talked about, but he isn't holding his breath waiting for it to happen.

"They been talking about that sh-- for years," Whoo Kid said. "We even talked about it in the mixtape format. It's an incredible situation [that] I hope one day goes down. Who wouldn't want to see that? I don't know what they gonna call that. I remember Em joked about that, 'Let's call it Ebony and Ivory.' Society is gonna have to force these guys to do it ... the scheduling, Em's album, 50's album — it's all scheduling. We've talked about it the last three, four years. You would want to see it, right?"

Of course — just like we would love to see the Jay-Z and Nas album, the Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre album or even that T-Wayne LP. But, like Whoo Kid, we'll believe it when we see it.

"I don't think Em and 50 will ever get it together to do an album," journalist Elliott Wilson said. "I know there was talk of [a joint album] when 50 first blew up and it was gonna be called Black and White. I personally love that title," the founder and CEO of RapRadar.com continued. "I'm sure there are plenty of unreleased records they've done and some kinda compilation could be released one day. But as far as a full-fledged album recorded together, that's doubtful. Then again, this is hip-hop, so what the f--- do we know?"

DJ Whoo Kid added that when 50 and Em are in the studio, they bring out the best in each other.

"The element of Dre being there, too, brings their bars up," Whoo Kid said. "They're both excited, crazy. They're already excited with each other. You see the verses are way up there, the creativity is way up there. 50 is influenced by [Em's] creativity where he crosses the line. The only time you see 50 buggin' out is when they're together. Whereas when 50's solo, he's creative too, but into the gangsta world, the thug sh--. Em showed him there's other lines out there you can f--- with.

"In the beginning it was business," he continued about 50 and Em's relationship. "They naturally grew into a family-type bond. 50 hangs more with Eminem and he's more connected with Eminem than Dre. Not to say 50 and Dre don't get along — they're really cool, they're friends and everything, but it's mostly business. But 50's gonna go to Eminem's wedding, 50's gonna go to Eminem's barbecue, they're gonna go on vacation together. They're more into the family sh--."

"Although I've never been around Eminem and 50 together," Wilson told us, "I believe that their friendship is built on loyalty and trust. I think 50 is Em's biggest fan and supporter who always shows his appreciation to Marshall for enabling him to build an incredible life. He doesn't even know how to not show that gratitude. And 50's probably one of the few people in this world Em can truly confide in."

Keri Hilson Is A Certified Freak!

From BallerStatus.com -- Keri Hilson is a certified freak, and isn't afraid to let everybody know either.

Here's some photos we found from a recent performance at the WaMu Theater in New York City, where she and her dancer simulate sex right on stage. As you can see, her dancer gets to touch it from the back, spank her, and even get the spread eagle view.

All we can say is wow. It definitely doesn't look like a show for kids. Her performance is a part of her set on Keyshia Cole's A Different Me Tour featuring Keri, and Bobby Valentino.

Busta Rhymes On Leaving Aftermath, "I Had A Successful Career Run Before I Got Over There

Former Aftermath artist Busta Rhymes recently detailed his reasons for leaving Dr. Dre's record label and how he turned elsewhere for his latest release.

In addition to Dre, the Flipmode leader also said there was no bad blood between him and Interscope head Jimmy Iovine.

"I just like to give people my latest greatest," Busta said in an interview. "So when I did the Back On My BS album, that was the album I decided to record as a result of the new excitement, the new deal, the new enthusiasm, the new support system...When that situation didn't feel like it was going the way I wanted it to go, the false starts, I said You know what, maybe this album ain't the one I should be coming with right now...I was able to grow comfortably before I got to Aftermath and Interscope, not to say there's anything wrong with my relationship with Dre or Jimmy. My problem was certain things I know through my experience of professionally recording that was supposed to be facilitated wasn't being facilitated...I've sold many multiple platinum albums and have had a very successful career run before I got over there. I just wanted to get back to sitting behind the wheel, controlling my own destiny." (Hard Knock TV)

Busta recently said his new album would be a return to "substantial" hip-hop.

"I'm happy, real happy, about a lot of things," Busta said in an interview earlier this year. "I'm in a great situation. New label, new money, new excitement, new sound, new album, just new everything. I just feel like I'm being born again or something...The album sounds like the substantial hip-hop that has been missing from the game for a long time...That traditional boom bap - hard kicks, hard snares, solid bass lines, records that sound real melodic because they're very incredibly structured songs, very lyrical records. It's the well-rounded balance of what a real hip-hop album is supposed to feel like." (Boston Herald)

The move from Interscope/Aftermath took place late 2008.

"Me and [Dr.] Dre are still good," Busta told DJ Envy on his "The People's Choice" radio show last fall. "So even though I'm not in business with Aftermath or Interscope, I'm still with Aftermath. Me and Dre are always gonna be good...Big up to Interscope for, you know, giving me the leaked joints and the set-ups." (Hot 97)

Busta's latest solo effort landed on the charts this week.

Flipmode leader Busta Rhymes' Back on my Bullsh*t just missed the Top 5 landing at No. 6 on the charts. His eighth solo project debuted with 59,300 copies after seven days on stores shelves. (Sales Wrap)

Rihanna Set To Testify Against Chris Brown in Court!!

Rihanna's lawyer just said the D.A. told him his client will be subpoenaed at the next court hearing.

Donald Etra said Rihanna will be called to the stand to testify at Chris Brown's preliminary hearing on June 22.

Etra says his client will cooperate and take the stand. It's not at all unexpected that the alleged victim would be called to the stand in a prelim.

Also today, the judge rejected a motion made by Chris Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, asking for an order requiring the LAPD to ante up info regarding leaks in the case.

Jay-Z Reportedly Re-Uniting W/ Lyor Cohen, "He Wants To Get The Dream Team Back"

A music industry rep has reportedly said Jay-Z is in talks to re-team with his former Def Jam managers Lyoh Cohen and Kevin Liles at Warner Music to create Carter Music Group.

While details are still scarce, Jay is reportedly preparing for a business reunion.

"Jay knows Lyor and Kevin from back when they all worked together at Def Jam, and he obviously wants to work something out with his friends," says our insider. "He wants to get the dream team back together. There have been a few whiffs of a reunion in the past, but only now - and very privately - is something finally starting to happen...This is big in hip hop. These are three of the most powerful men in music, who might be working together, and there's no question the success they'll have as a team will be huge." (New York Daily News)

Jay, however, is also rumored to be joining the label of his wife, Beyonce, at Sony.

Jay-Z is close to signing a deal that will bring his future recordings to Sony, Billboard sources confirm. The deal -- which will link Jay-Z's Roc Nation releases with Sony's Epic Records for distribution -- "is 95% complete" according to people familiar with the ongoing negotiations. A formal announcement is expected in the coming weeks. (Billboard)

Jay reportedly did not want to drop his final contractual album, The Blueprint 3, via Def Jam Records.

"He definitely didn't want to release his album via Def Jam," said a Universal Music source. "And given his close relationship with (Sony executive and producer) Rick Rubin, it comes as no surprise that he'd make the switch." Speculation has intensified in the past week that a Sony deal is in the works. Sony Corp CEO Howard Stringer and Jay-Z's Roc Nation partner Jay Brown have been spotted meeting in Los Angeles and New York; Epic Records president Amanda Ghost is managed by Roc Nation and Brown; and Jay-Z's wife, Beyonce, is an artist on Sony's Columbia Records label. (Reuters)

The rap mogul confirmed his Def Jam buy-out and departure from Def Jam last week.

"I can honestly say, working with Doug Morris and LA Reid has been a unique and fulfilling experience and I respect them immensely," Jay said in an interview. "I've been in the family for almost my entire career. Doug and I spoke directly and had one of the most unique 'negotiations' ever. Doug won the toss but, we both won in the end...I thank him for allowing me to be a completely independent artist. Not every artist can say they own or are given the opportunity to own all of their music."

Eminem & 50 Cent React To "Relapse" Success, "He's The Best Rapper

Eminem and 50 Cent appeared on BET's "106 & Park" this week speaking on the success of Relapse becoming the No. 1 album of the year and why their chemistry continues to work.

While selling over 600,000 copies his first week in stores, Em said his main focus was attaining the fans' respect.

"I mean, record sales to me, honestly, since the beginning of my career I've always said they're not as important to me as the respect and things like that," Em explained. "I would just rather rap and get respect from the fans and my peers and things like that. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to sell any records, but at the same time it's not my main priority."

"I think we absolutely in a great space considering his project is where it's at, number one," Fif said in the interview. "And it's working. Until they find a collaboration of artists that work as well as we do together, I don't think we got issues...I feel like [Em] is the best rapper because he possesses the way to say things that aren't supposed to be cool." (106 & Park)

Slim Shady's fifth solo release has become the biggest debut of the year so far.

Grammy-winning rapper Eminem has made his triumphant return to hip-hop with the No. 1 album of the year and in the country this week. According to Nielsen Soundscan, Slim Shady's comeback project Relapse debuted on the charts with 609,400 copies after seven days in stores. (SOHH's Sales Wrap)

Early signs showed the album performing well internationally.

Rap artists celebrated a stellar sales week on Sunday's new U.K. sales charts, with Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden's "Bonkers" (Dirtee Stank) new at the top of the singles survey, and Eminem's Relapse (Interscope/Universal) powering straight to No. 1 on the album bestsellers...The Eminem album is his fifth in a row to top the U.K. chart, a run dating back to The Marshall Mathers LP in 2000. (Billboard)

Busta Rhymes recently told SOHH about looking forward to the first week sales of all rap projects coming out on the same day, which included albums from DJ Drama plus Redman & Method Man.

"I feel real good about it because its a great day in hip-hop," he told SOHH. "There aint been this much amazing releases on the same day in a minute. All of this dope shit in the marketplace, hip-hop needs it right now. We need it to show people how lucrative the business of hip-hop music still is on a corporate level. We need to also get these tours up and running. I just look forward to seeing what the outcome is going to be. I'm fans of every one of those artists I'ma be out there buying all three of them sh*ts myself that day."

T.I.'s Concert Demands Leak Online, Rapper Needs Weapons Check & Filet Mignon

T.I.'s rider, which is a list of items requested for his concerts, has hit the Internet and includes "adequate" security and steak filet mignon.

A fully detailed list of items has been provided in released contractual documents.

According to his current concert rider, when the 28-year-old performer (real name: Clifford Harris) hits the road, he travels first class, stays in luxury hotels, and has his dressing room stocked with premium booze and fine sweets like Skittles and Lemonheads. The promoter is responsible for providing adequate security to ensure the safety of all performing artists. Additional security includes stage security, crowd control, dressing room security and weapons check. Food items will come in the form of a pre-paid $1000 bar tab or cotton towels, FIJI-only water, chilled fruit juices, nine steak filet mignons, CD player and speakers, 2 bottles of PJ Rose' Champagne, 12 pack of Heineken, two large bags of potato chips, plenty of ice, Remy Martin, Grey Goose, Patron Tequila. (The Smoking Gun)

The Atlanta, Georgia-based emcee's last performance took place in his hometown over the weekend.

T.I. told fans he would stay optimistic when he heads to prison on a federal weapons conviction. The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Clifford J. Harris Jr., performed for a packed audience Sunday (May 24) night in Atlanta's Philips Arena less than two days before he is to begin serving the sentence of a year and a day. "I'm going to stand up tall, head up high," he said. "Thank you for all of your support." Many in the packed crowd held up encouraging signs, like one reading "T.I. We Will Miss U!" (Associated Press)

The venue was reportedly filled with thousands of fans.

Talk about your farewell concerts. T.I. performed in Atlanta last night less than two days before he must report to prison to start serving a federal weapons conviction. The rapper told the audience of about 16,000 at Philips Arena: "I'll see y'all in 366 days." It's that period a year and a day he has to serve after his guilty plea to charges of trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers from federal undercover agents in 2007. (KXMB News)

Upon turning himself into an Arkansas prison to begin a 366-day sentence earlier this week, SOHH spoke with Bun B about what advice he would give the rapper.

"Tip's a very intelligent young man, he's very resourceful," Bun said. "He has a very sharp sense of understanding life and situations involved in it. I couldn't give him any more advice than what he probably knows already. Just to keep God first, stay focused and do his time don't let his time do him. Prison is not a place to commiserate and make friends at. But like I say, all these things are things that I'm very sure Tip knows already. I'd just tell him to keep his head up like anybody else and make sure he got an address on me and I got one on him. So I can shoot him a kite, send him a picture or two. That shit go a long way I don't think people realize. Tip's a good dude he's a smart dude. I'm pretty sure with God on his side, he'll be alright."

Kanye West Promises Jay-Z 'Anti-Auto-Tune' Blueprint 3 Will Be 'Amazing'

NEW YORK — "Where amazing happens" doesn't just take place on the NBA courts — it also happens in Kanye West's studio. The Grammy winner says Jay-Z's long-percolating Blueprint 3 will be well worth the long wait the MC's fans have been enduring.

"Jay is in control of everything in his domain," Kanye, the album's producer, said last week during a promotional visit for his book, "Thank You and You're Welcome."

"He's just been working on it, and it's gonna be amazing when he drops it. I think it's good he's taking his time to give people the best product possible and not being rushed by this fast-food, media-outlet, Internet, everything-is-getting-leaked, people-stealing your-songs-before-you-can-mix-them-and-put-them-online world we're living in right now."

Kanye revealed that he and Jay went back in and made some alterations to B3 since they first started.

"We actually removed all the songs with Auto-Tune off of his album," West said, "to make the point that this is an anti-Auto-Tune album, even though I released an album that has all Auto-Tune!

"It doesn't matter to me," Kanye laughed about Jay not wanting to incorporate the sound that is featured so heavily on Kanye's 808s & Heartbreak. "It's music; it's just sonics. I like Auto-Tune so I do it, but you want the other thing — like you'll wear a suit to a wedding and gym shoes to a basketball game. I think it's a perfect moment for Jay to provide some gym shoes to a basketball game right now."

No release date has been set for Blueprint 3, however, last week, Jay-Z secured his release from Def Jam Records, which will allow the album to come out on his own Roc Nation label, presumably in partnership with Rock Nation (although the specifics of that deal have not been confirmed). Meanwhile, Kanye has been in the studio, grabbing inspiration for his own next album.

T.I. Officially Begins His Prison Sentence

Rapper T.I. checked into a federal prison in Forrest City, Arkansas today (May 26).

Confusion briefly broke out this morning about the time of the rapper's surrender, which occurred around 12:29 CST, sources told AllHipHop.com.

T.I., born Clifford Harris Jr. is now serving a 366-day federal prison sentence for attempting to by illegal machine guns and silencers from undercover agents in October of 2007.

Officers blockaded the prison entrance and refused to allow reporters any closer than within 170 yards of the prison.

A source told AllHipHop.com that T.I. was issued a new check-in date, which may explain the delay.

T.I. originally faced 10 years in prison for attempting to purchase high powered AK-47’s and AR-15s with silencers.

Representatives for T.I. were not available to comment as of press time.

T.I. recently preformed a farewell concert in front of 16,000 fans on Sunday (May 24).

Kanye Girl Amber Rose Denies Cassidy Hook-Up Rumors

Last week, rumors that Kanye West and his girl Amber Rose had broken up spread across the worldwide web. Those rumors came originated from talk about her letting another rapper sample her goodies.

According to the gossip, Amber was creeping with Philly rapper Cassidy, after meeting him at a local charity softball game, but she says it's not true.

The shaved head, blonde bombshell cleared up those rumors, via an update on her Twitter page Friday (May 22), calling the gossip "ridiculous."

"I do NOT know Cassity personally, I met him for the first and only time at a charity softball game. THAT'S IT! These blogs r ridiculous," Amber wrote.

Guess the blogs were not on point this time. Amber didn't address the break-up rumors, though.

It's been rumored that she's keeping the relationship going for publicity. We'll keep you posted as more info rolls in.

T.I. Denied Prison Delay, Must Begin Sentence Next Week

A judge has denied T.I.'s request for a two-week prison delay and placement in a minimum-security facility located in Georgia.

The decision to keep Tip in an Arkansas prison was made Friday (May 22) afternoon.

Rapper T.I. must report Tuesday (May 26) to a federal prison at Forrest City, Ark., as previously ordered, a federal judge ruled Friday. HIs request was denied by U.S. District Judge Charles A. Pannell Jr. Lawyer Donald F. Samuel said he would continue to ask the federal Bureau of Prisons to re-classify the music star. (WMFB News)

The Atlanta-based emcee reportedly made his request yesterday.

Harris asked a court today to let him remain free while he seeks placement in a minimum-security prison closer to his Atlanta home. He claims prison officials miscalculated his criminal history. His lawyer called a 2003 incident a "scuffle" with a mall cop. A pre-sentencing report says T.I. has a "serious history of violence." The rapper is scheduled to report by noon Tuesday to the Federal Correction Institution at Forrest City, Arkansas. He was fined $100,000 and sentenced to 366 days for trying to buy machine guns and silencers he said he needed for protection. (Fort Mill Times)
Tip will reportedly serve roughly ten months behind bars.

According to U.S. Attorney's Office Spokesperson Charysee Alexander, the rapper was indeed given credit for the 305 days of home confinement he served while awaiting trial in the case, but that has nothing to do with his prison sentence. The confusion may have stemmed from mixing the credit for home confinement with the prison sentence, which are separate terms, Alexander said. Once T.I. completes the prison term, he will still have to serve out the remainder of his home confinement, she said, which will amount to about two months. Alexander explained that, at best, according to federal sentencing guidelines, anyone who serves more than one year in prison is eligible for a 15 percent "good time" credit, which in Tip's case could shave almost 55 days off his sentence. (MTV)

The rapper is currently required to turn himself in next week.

The 28 year-old rapper, whose real name is Clifford J. Harris Jr., will be serving his year-and-one-day sentence at the Forrest City low-security federal prison. Paperwork filed in his federal court case shows he has until noon on May 26 to report for his sentence. Prison officials did not immediately return a call for comment. (USA Today)

T.I. has not yet released a statement regarding the judge's decision

What If Notorious B.I.G. Were Still Here For His 37th Birthday?

Arguably one of the greatest rappers ever to clutch the microphone, the Notorious B.I.G. celebrates what would have been his 37th birthday today. That’s right, the late great Frank White would have been just three years shy of officially being considered “over the hill.”

Since his untimely demise at the age of 24, there’s been much speculation for the past decade as to where the Brooklynite would stand in today’s rap climate. Would B.I.G. and his sidekick/boss Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs still be rocking together? What about Jay-Z? Lil Kim? Let’s take a look.

Bad Boy: Although B.I.G. was the label’s flagship artist and only on his second album (a double at that), a certain Mr. Comb’s track record of retaining his artists for the duration of their contractual obligations is not an impressive one (check: Craig Mack, Total, 112, Faith Evans, Mase, G. Dep, Black Rob, etc.) So, it’s hard to say whether Biggie himself would still be on the once-dominant Bad Boy.

Jay-Z: The two became bosom buddies and were on the verge of creating a supergroup together with Charli Baltimore, dubbed the Commission, before B.I.G. passed. But as history shows, money and power have ruined some of the strongest alliances in hip-hop. Many argue that if B.I.G. were here, then Hov’s career wouldn’t be as massive as it currently is.

Junior M.A.F.I.A.: Some of Biggie’s rap peers turned their heads in disgust when turmoil within the M.A.F.I.A. went public. The Lil Kim/ Lil Cease/ D-Roc fallout and, most recently, Kim verbally attacking B.I.G.’s mother Voletta Wallace over her portrayal in the movie “Notorious” must have B.I.G. turning in his grave. But if Big were still here, maybe the group would still be intact.

Lil’ Kim: Kim revisted the national spotlight these past two months with her appearance on “Dancing With the Stars,” but B.I.G. had his own plans to turn the starlet into a household name long ago. Critics say Kim’s rap career is on ice, but rest assured that if her mentor were still alive today, he’d have none of that.

Faith Evans: The married couple were on the outs when B.I.G. passed, even though they shared the birth of the first child together during their separation. It’s a known fact B.I.G. was a ladies man, but his close friends say that his heart belonged to his “Big Fay.” Would Faith and Biggie’s son, C.J., have eventually reunited his parents?

Nas: Indirectly, the Queensbridge native and Bed Stuy’s ‘hood mayor were taking verbal shots at each other not long before B.I.G.’s death. Nas acknowledged that he use to hang with Biggie and Puff during Big’s Ready to Die days. Then the two later got competitive with each other, tussling for that prestigious King of New York throne. Imagine Nas’ “Black Republican” feat Jay-Z and Biggie, or even B.I.G.’s “I Love the Dough” feat Jay-Z and Nas. (Nas talks about the whole King Of New York thing)

Tupac: Before his own death, Pac was shifting away from Death Row and possibly the whole East Coast vs. West Coast beef and working on an album with Brooklyn group Black Moon on the album “One Nation.” Though Pac was piping mad at B.I.G. in his final days, working with a fellow Brooklyn act was a start to end their beef. Eminem brought together vocals from B.I.G. and Pac for the “Resurrection” film, but would the real reunion have eventually been in the works if the legends were still alive?

Fat Joe Was Supposed to Drop on May 19th. FAIL. Cops Pleas to XXL

shouts to the rap insider too, let's get paper. now lets get to business

According to @XXLstaff:

The latest album from Fat Joe, J.O.S.E. 2, missed out on its Super Tuesday release date due to insufficient promotion, according to a statement from the rapper issued to XXLMag.com.

“We wanted to make sure we had a second single in the marketplace,” Joey Crack said. “We dropped the first single with Akon and will be coming soon with the T-Pain joint.”

The album was scheduled for release last Tuesday (May 19) along with new discs by Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Method Man & Redman, and DJ Drama. The Terror Squad leader initially addressed the album delay in a Twitter message, placing the blame on a sample clearance issue.

Still without a release date as of press time, the sequel to Joe’s 2001 platinum album will also feature cameos from Lil Wayne, Ron Browz, Lil Kim, Fabolous, Ne-Yo, and Raekwon.

Stay tuned to XXL as the story develops. - Devin Chanda

SPLITZVILLE!: Kanye West cut Amber Rose over alleged fling with Cassidy?

Bye Bye Amber Rose!

Information has just come down the pipe regarding Kanye “To The” and budding socialite Mrs. Amber Rose. Gyantunplugged.com has exclusively learned that its a wrap for the “couple”. But you’ll never guess why.
You know I got all the seedy details below.

According to my source, Kanye has ended their relationship due to Amber trying to sneak out on him with another MC. Apparently while Ye is hard at work in Hawaii on Rihanna and Jay-Z’s albums, among others, Amber’s been trying to step out him with none other then Philly rapper Cassidy.
It seems the rumors in the streets about Amber Rose being nothing more than a bi-sexual opportunist is true because I hear she strived to keep her thing with Cassidy on the low. Too bad silly Amber wasn’t smart enough to know that you can’t get anything past Mr. West.

From what I understand, word got back to Ye’ and he cancelled that chick I-M-M-E-D-I-A-T-E-L-Y!
No word yet on Amber’s spin from the situation, but its definitely over.

Updated:

Yesterday Gyantunplugged.com broke the story that Amber Rose and Kanye West is over!

Naturally, the back pedaling has begun, which isn’t that surprising if you really think about it. My sources contacted me late last night in an attempt to make an addendum to the story.

It seems like my sources[s] may have jumped the gun because now I’m being told that Kanye actually dumped Amber a couple of weeks prior to this new found intel between she and Cassidy. And, according to Cassidy’s people, here’s what the Philadelphia native is saying about the situation:

Cassidy and Amber Rose were both in the Philadelphia market this past weekend for a celebrity charity basketball event! Both of the celebrities are originally from Philadelphia and were in attendance of the charity to support a worthy cause, and rapper Cassidy is NOT in any type of “personal or intimate relationship” with Amber Rose!
All in all I think we all know what is going on here. And shame on everyone involved who’s attempting to use a blogger to do peoples dirty work.

Note to all tipsters. Once you call a blogger has rung the bell on a story, it’s EXTREMELY difficult to unring it. Make sure you think about ish long and hard before you start running ya mouths.

I was trying to be nice, but I think we all know what was going on between Ye and Rose anyway. And something tells me that love was the LAST thing on everybody’s mind!

Story Developing…

this is what they say but I mean I'd expect her to not cheat publicly and with a girl not a washed up 1/2 hit wonder"

What do they say about not looking a gift horse in the mouth? Amber Rose just stuck her head in it!

Swizz Beatz Seeks Gag Order Over Alicia Keys Affair

Producer Swizz Beatz (Kasseem Dean) has requested a court-approved gag order in the divorce proceedings with R&B singer Mashonda.

Upon announcement of the divorce last year, gossip columns and sites began speculating the reason for the split was due to Swizz Beatz' alleged affair with R&B superstar Alicia Keys.

After vehemently denying the claims for months, Swizz confirmed the relationship earlier this month.

Mashonda attorney Bernard Clair criticized the request, lambasting the veteran producer for child neglect and his verse on Drake's "Best I Ever Had Remix," which the high-powered divorce lawyer claimed was a classless attempt of brag about the affair that allegedly ended his marriage.

Speaking to the New York Post, Clair stated the issues with the divorce and child support were "flying under the radar until Mr. Dean and Alicia Keys went public about their long-term affair and he released a song implying that he likes it when Alicia serves him breakfast naked. Now that Mr. Dean's questionable conduct is being scrutinized, he suddenly wants a gag order and the media to be locked out?"

The former couple divorced last April after four years of marriage.

Their one child, Kasseem, Jr., was born in January 2007.

At press time, Manhattan Superior Court Justice Deborah Kaplan has not made a ruling on Swizz Beatz's gag order request.

Jay-Z Leaves Def-Jam

Jay is happy to be 'a completely independent artist' after buying out his contract.

Now maybe we can get that Blueprint 3 album. Jay-Z has officially parted ways with his home for more than a decade, Def Jam. On Thursday morning (May 21), Hits Daily Double reported in its Rumor Mill section that Hov — who owed Def Jam one last album — bought himself out of his contract for $5 million.

On Thursday afternoon, Jay contacted RapRadar.com and confirmed his departure.

"I can honestly say, working with Doug Morris and L.A. Reid has been a unique and fulfilling experience, and I respect them immensely," Hov told the Web site. "I've been in the family for almost my entire career. Doug and I spoke directly and had one of the most unique 'negotiations' ever."

Jay said that negotiation included a coin toss. "Doug won the toss, but we both won in the end," Jay said. "I thank him for allowing me to be a completely independent artist. Not every artist can say they own or are given the opportunity to own all of their music."

Jay started his own record company, Roc Nation, and has been working on the Blueprint 3 with Kanye West since 2008.

In February, Jay joked that he was too free in making his latest opus.

"If I don't have any time constraints, I'll mess around, I'll never get it done," he said. "I'll be Axl Rose out here! It'll be 12 years later, and we'll be talking about Chinese Democracy. I really like the [time constraints]. But whatever happens, [the album] may turn out better, 'cause it'll be done when it's right."

Nicki Minaj Changes Sexual Image

Nicki Minaj of Lil Wayne’s Young Money Crew is changing her image and scaling back on the raunchy, overtly sexual mantra that has carried her thus far.

Fresh off the Iron Music Tour with Wayne, Nicki Minaj said she is toning it down and focusing more on her rapping/singing style.

The rapper affirmed she won’t present ass much of the in-your-face sexiness as she has in prior years.

“Nicki Minaj is not going to be about sex appeal. I’m always gonna be sexy,” Minaj told AllHipHop.com, “I’m a bad b***h.”

The Jamaica, New York native, who seemed heavily influenced by Lil Kim, said she won’t emulate her female counterparts.

“It’s okay to be sexy but you have to also balance that with your music that’s what I learned and that’s what I’m doing. I’m not the next anybody, I’m the new Nicki Minaj,” she said.

Nicki Minaj recently released a new mixtape called Beam Me Up Scotty.

Is Beyonce Trying To Keep Jay… By Getting Pregnant?

This is straight out of the rumor mill, but an anonymous Beyonce employee wrote to DestinysChildRumours.com and said they overheard an argument between Tina and Beyonce over whether or not Bey should take a break from working to have a child. Says the emailer,

I am currently working on the “I AM….Tour” with Beyonce, her mother and the rest of the crew. I won’t give my job role for obvious reasons.

I heard an argument between Tina and Beyonce by accident. Tina is worried that Beyonce will soon loose Jay-Z to a less successful woman, meaning someone who has time to have his children. Jay is not getting any younger and is desperate to have them. Beyonce has been so focused on her career that Jay-Z has gone to the way side. I know Jay-Z had a brief affair with someone and their marriage was nearly over. Tina told Beyonce she is to blame for this and needs to do something about it.

This is why recently you have seen Jay-Z and Beyonce spending more time together, she is trying to rebuild bridges. Her recent announcement to have take a break is in actual fact to have a baby. Tina has told Beyonce that she will look after the child in a year and when she is ready to return to work. Is it NOT want Beyonce who wants it but she is pressured to do it by her family and Jay.

Sounds like a realistic scenario, but we won’t believe it til we see it! Either way… that employee should be fired for having loose lips.

Swizz Beatz Finally Admitts That He And Alicia Keys Are An Item

Hip-hop maestro Swizz Beatz is finally admitting that he and Alicia Keys are an item — but he wishes his estranged wife, Mashonda, would leave the Grammy winner out of their divorce.

For months now, Swizz has been trying to keep his thing with Alicia on the down-low. But he doesn't leave much doubt about who owns his heart on Drake's new "Best I Ever Had" remix.

Wake up in the morning and my baby cooked me breakfast, A's naked wearing nothing on but a necklace …

Yeah, she say she wanna treat me like a king; I get big gifts so the money ain't a damn thing

She gave me a party at the Guggenheim … What's next? The ring? The baby? She really loves me!

Swizz tells us that, yes, he's in love with Keys and, yes, she did give him a birthday party at that museum.

"But we're nowhere near ready for a baby or a ring," laughs Swizz, aka Kasseem Dean. "This whole song is not about Alicia. The part about her cooking breakfast for me naked — she never done that for me." Damn.

Swizz didn't want to talk about Keys till now because, he says, "What we have is so precious." He also felt it would aggravate Mashonda, who's also a singer.

He may have been right. "When he told Mashonda he was dating Alicia, I think she got jealous," says a friend of the couple.

Having filed for divorce in February, Mashonda is seeking interim support for their 2-year-old son, Kasseem Jr., arguing that Swizz has slashed his payments.

"He's been tightening the screws on her," says a friend of Moshanda. "It's becoming intolerable. Meanwhile, she's seen the charges for jewelry he's bought Alicia in France."

During the winter, the heat in Mashonda's Westchester mansion went out. "Swizz wouldn't repair her heat," says her friend. But a pal of Swizz argues, "The house is 30,000 square feet. The heat didn't work in one wing, not where Mashonda and Dean slept. Swizz had been paying all of their bills. On top of that, he was giving her $5,000 a week. His advisers felt that was too much, so now he pays her $3,500 a month, on top of the bills.

"Swizz has put settlement offers on the table, but Mashonda won't say what she needs. She just came back from Paris and London. She drives a Bentley Flying Spur and a Cadillac Escalade. I don't think life's too bad for her."

Mashonda's friend argues that she's resisted his offers "because he's been less than forthcoming about his true financial picture."

Swizz's lawyer, Dan Rottenstreich, insists, "He has taken care of her and his son above and beyond what's required."

Says Mashonda's attorney Bernard Clair: "An application is pending before the court, where the facts will be developed."

Eminem Backs Off Nick Cannon Taunts, "I Had No Idea He Was Going To Start Wildin' Out

Nearly two weeks after Nick Cannon's threats of ending Eminem's career, Slim Shady has responded to the Nickelodeon star and explained the message behind his initial diss song, "Bagpipes From Baghdad."

Speaking with radio personality Tim Westwood, Em admitted his anti-Mariah Carey wordplay may have gone too far.

"As a kid [I had a crush on Mariah], definitely," Em revealed. "With the song 'Bagpipes From Baghdad,' there's a line on there, I mean, I kinda spazed out on that record but I guess I spazed out on every record. There's a line on there that was a little harsh, you know, it's a harsh line, it was pretty intense on the swag level but you know man, the way I look at it, I said it, I had no idea he was going to take it like he took it. I had no idea Nick Cannon was gonna start wildin' out on me. No pun intended. I heard about some of the things he was saying, I didn't read his blog or anything. It is what it is, he's supposed to defend his wife. I expected him to do that. But at the end of the day, it's a line I said, I meant to say I wish them the best. That's what I meant to say...I didn't plan on taking it [to battling], hopefully it doesn't, but you know, it is what it is." (Tim Westwood TV)

Busta Rhymes recently spoke on his thoughts revolving around Em and Mariah

"Leave Mariah Carey alone," Busta said in an interview. "That's my friend, man...At the end of the day, I don?t know what their situation was, so I can't really speak on it....I don't even understand why this sh*t is resurfacing again. But for whatever it's worth, I just hope they could be cool." (Rap-Up)

Em associate DJ Whoo Kid also weighed in on the situation.

"One of the main reasons [he's popular] is he f*cked Mariah Carey," Whoo Kid said in an interview. "That's hot right there. No condom too? What. He peed on her and everything too. He was like the first R. Kelly situation. He's actually against Nick Cannon. I don't see Nick Cannon really going back at him 'cause he's like the weirdo of the hip-hop community 'cause he married this girl for nothin'. For money I guess. He's like the reverse gold digger or something, I don't know. That's what they call him now, so." (Opie & Anthony)

Cannon previously took to his blog to address Em earlier this month.

"At first I thought it was old material that had been dug up from when dude "fantasized" about having a pretend fling with Mariah," Cannon wrote via his blog. "So as I further examine the track, I hear dude cross the line. He begins to call my wife out of her name! Now as y'all know, I don't take that type of nonsense lightly. So on some grown man sh*t I'm instantly like, I got to get at this Lame...Let's not forget about Eminem's amateur mixtape rants of calling African Americans N*gger and how he hates "Black B*tches." How did we let him get away with that in the first place?! He is a natural born racist in disguise...So I'm putting this out there now. Marshall Mathers, you need to holler at me on some grown man sh*t. Man to man, let's meet up and deal with this like adults...So Miss Marshall, I'm going to make you wish you never spoke my name and regret the ungodly things you said about my wife. This is going to be fun! It's however you want it! Just remember, you did this to yourself! Your legacy has now been tainted from this day forth! You will now be known as the rapper who lost to Corny-a** Nick Cannon!!!" (Nick Cannon's Blog)

Dipset Enforcer Arrested After 3 Year Police Hunt

Dipset Enforcer Arrested After 3 Year Police Hunt, Murder Charges Involving Diplomat Mixtapes

Dipset associate Carlos Thompson was reportedly arrested in New Jersey on Friday (May 15) after being on the run from authorities and featured on "America's Most Wanted" for over three years.
Click here to find out more!

Thompson was taken in by police yesterday afternoon on murder charges.

He was arrested in Sayreville after authorities received a tip that he was staying in a townhouse in the borough, police said. Thompson was arrested about 3:15 p.m. in a residence in the townhouse development. Borough police Detective Lt. Timothy Brennan and Detective Sgt. Thomas Cassidy were contacted early Friday and set up surveillance near the townhouse. They were joined by New York City police, U.S. marshals and several borough officers, who entered the townhouse and quickly apprehended Thompson, Detective Matthew Bandurski said. Thompson had apparently been leasing the Sayreville townhouse since November. A team of 14 officers participated in the arrest. (New Jersey Real-Time News)

His fugitive file has been featured on "America's Most Wanted."

When AMW aired the case of Dipset Crew enforcer Carlos Thompson on May 24, 2008, tipsters flooded our hotline with information about him. They told us he may be hiding in Brooklyn, and that his street name was "Bart Simpson." They also told us a tidbit of information that police had been keeping close to their vests: it turns out that on Halloween night 2007, Thompson was a passenger in a multi-car Manhattan crash. The driver of Thompson's car was drunk, hit a number of other vehicles and flipped over, killing another passenger. But, instead of sticking around, cops say Thompson -- a fugitive wanted for murder -- crawled out of the car, leaving his friend to die. New York police say it shows how far Thompson will go to stay on the run from his past. (America's Most Wanted)

Thompson was reportedly the 'force' behind Dipset.

A rap enforcer is being hunted for ordering a 13 year-old to kill a Harlem teen, authorities said. As muscle for the popular Dipset Crew, Thompson would travel with the performers to gigs and parties as protection against anyone with a beef. The NYPD issued an arrest warrant for Thompson in 2007 on grounds that he gave a gun to 13 year-old L'mani Delima in 2005 and told him to shoot 15-year-old Phoenix Garrett for selling Dipset Crew CDs on the street. (New York Daily News)

Another Dipset associate, King Tut, recently committed suicide after being on the run from police on felony charges.

Police say he killed himself in a taxi as suburban New York officers closed in on him. Greenburgh, N.Y., Lt. Chris McNerney says the cab carrying Tut was pulled over by police. McNerney says police ordered everyone out. The driver and a woman left the cab, but he refused. McNerney says that as police converged, the rapper shot himself in the head. (Associated Press)

Busta Rhymes To Eminem: "Leave Mariah Carey Alone"

Nick Cannon isn’t the only one rushing to Mariah Carey’s defense. Busta Rhymes is showing support for his friend after Eminem attacked her on his new album.

The notorious rapper calls the songbird a "c*nt" and a "wh*re" on Relapse’s "Bagpipes from Baghdad." After the track surfaced on the Internet, Mariah’s husband wrote a scathing blog entry going at Eminem over the lyrics. Slim Shady claims the two had a romantic relationship, which Mariah has denied.

"Leave Mariah Carey alone. That’s my friend, man," Busta tells Rap-Up.com in response to Em’s remarks about his "I Know What You Want" collaborator. "At the end of the day, I don’t know what their situation was, so I can’t really speak on it."

The blond MC’s connection with the pop diva has been brought up many times since the pair met in 2001. "I don’t even understand why this shit is resurfacing again," adds Busta. "But for whatever it’s worth, I just hope they could be cool."

The animated rap star, who will release his new album Back On My B.S. this Tuesday, has also worked with Eminem. The two joined forces on "I’ll Hurt You" and performed the remix to Busta’s "Touch It" at the 2006 BET Awards. "Eminem is my peoples as well. I got great relationships with both of them."
