Nicki Minaj Officially Becomes ‘The First Lady’
She mentioned it a few weeks ago, now it’s official. With today’s announcement, Nicki Minaj has become ‘The First Lady’ of Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money imprint. Arguably the only female with a substantial buzz, Minaj’s rise to fame has come through her mixtape line. After the releases of “Playtime Is Over” and “Sucker Free“, it was her latest tape, “Beam Me Up Scotty“, which catapulted her into the national scene. The signing now gives Young Money two of the more coveted after free agents in Drake and “Nicki Lewinsky.”“To say I’m excited would be an understatement. It’s validation. It’s proof. It’s empowerment. I represent every little girl in a hood near you. To everyone that supported me two years ago when I was on underground mix-tapes and DVDs and to the people that only caught on two weeks ago, I say thank you. Be proud of yourself. Nicki’s deal didn’t come without its own fine tuning. She was able to retain and own all of her 360 rights, including merchandising, sponsorships, endorsements, touring and publishing.
Her currently untitled debut album is set to release towards the top of 2010. First, however, Minaj will continue to work and promote the release of Young Money’s compilation album due out this winter. The First Lady is still appearing with Lil Wayne at sold-out arenas throughout the country on the America’s Most Wanted tour, which also features Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy and more. Nicki continues to be managed by Mizay Enertainment’s Debra Antney who also represents Gucci Mane.

‘Bad Boys 3′ Flick In The Works
After two successful tries, with stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence leading the way, the "Bad Boys" film franchise is set to return with its third installment.
Columbia Pictures has hired Peter Craig to write the screenplay. However, so far, there is no promise that director Michael Bay, or stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will return, reports Geeks of Doom.
Right now, the plan is to get a script finished, and hopefully, it's good enough to get all the original people onboard.
Currently, everything is in the early stages.
The first two films feature Smith and Lawrence as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, who get caught up in high action situations, such as car chases and explosions.
The original "Bad Boys" came in 1995, and helped launch the career of Michael Bay as a director and Will Smith as an action star, despite only grossing around $66 million in the US.
Its sequel, however, fare a lot better, raking in $138 million domestically and $273 million worldwide.
According to Reuters: all parties have expressed a willingness to return if a story can be hammered out. One potential hurdle, however, would be the costly deals with the players.
DJ AM's Death -- Not a Suicide.
Law enforcement sources directly connected with the death of DJ AM tell us that his death was the result of an accidental overdose and not a suicide -- and there is a tragic, ironic twist of fate.
Our sources say DJ AM, a recovering addict, developed a dependency to Xanax and other benzodiazepines (a group of drugs used to treat anxiety) as a direct result of the plane crash a year ago. We're told AM (aka Adam Goldstein) developed a tremendous anxiety over flying -- something he had to do frequently for his job. We're told doctors began prescribing Xanax and other anti-anxiety medications to relieve his fear, but the benzos triggered a relapse into addiction. We're told benzos are particularly dicey for recovering addicts.
Our sources say DJ AM's relapse was "recent" -- he was not abusing for a prolonged period of time before his death.
We're also told the OD had "absolutely nothing to do with his recent breakup."
Our sources say the evidence strongly indicates cause of death will be a combination of crack cocaine and benzos.

Tiny & Toya Season Finale Draws 1.9 Million Viewers

BET enjoyed a huge night in the ratings on Tuesday, August 25, as the season finale of the little show that could, TINY & TOYA, attracted more than 1.9 million total viewers. TINY & TOYA finished the season with an average of 1.9 MM viewers, making it the #1 original series in BET history, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The blockbuster night was capped off by the season premiere of the spin-off series, FRANKIE & NEFFE, which garnered 1.9 million total viewers. The premiere of FRANKIE & NEFFE stands as the #2 series debut in BET history.

Vibe Magazine Names New Editor-In-Chief
VIBE Magazine, which was recently bought by InterMedia Partners after initially folding in July, has named Jermaine Hall as the new editor-in-chief, according to the New York Times.
Hall’s work resume includes positions as The Source’s music editor and King’s editor-in-chief. Along with EIC duties for Vibe, he will also handle the re-launch of Vibe.com.
VIBE, which will now be released on a quarterly basis, will make its return on newsstands come late fall with a November/December issue.
Brett Wright, chief creative officer for Uptown Media Group and now co-chief executive of the VIBE Lifestyle Network, stated that although VIBE will continue to focus on the “Hip Hop generation” through its music coverage, he expects the magazine to put more effort into the areas of fashion and sports. Wright also described Vibe.com as providing “regular, daily, hourly, by-minute basis” content of urban entertainment for its subscribers.
Despite early reports of Quincy Jones’ intentions to buy back VIBE last month, it is still unknown whether he will contribute to the magazine’s future endeavors as Wright explained, “We haven’t spoken to Quincy. I’m sure at some point we’ll speak and figure it out from there.”
Update: Details Emerge in Juelz Santana’s Domestic Violence Case
Details have emerged in Juelz Santana’s alleged domestic violence case with the mother of his son, one day after news broke that the Harlem rapper was arrested.
According to the Associated Press, Santana was officially charged with making terroristic threats and possessing a weapon. He is being accused of intimidating his girlfriend with a knife. Captain Dean Kazinci told the AP that Santana alleges that the woman carried the knife and she was the aggressor.
Despite yesterday’s reports, the woman did suffer minor injuries, but did not have to seek any medical attention.
Juelz is currently at home on $5,000 bail. He is set to be back in court on September 9.

conjunction with the release of his 11th solo album, The Blueprint 3, Jay-Z is gracing the cover of XXL magazine for the publication’s October issue. Speaking with XXL’s Special Projects Editor Bonsu Thompson, the self-proclaimed, “God MC” delves deep into many hot topics currently buzzing around him, including his mega success, BP3, jabs at his new singles “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” and “Run this Town,” his tenure as the president of Def Jam and life as hip-hop’s ultra businessman. Check out a few excerpts below.
CRITICISM OF “D.O.A.”
“I’m not hating on young people. Like, when people say that, I’m like, What are you talking about? It’s just stupid. I’m not hating on young people… I’m not Bill Russell, [saying] Michael Jordan ain’t shit. I’m saying Lil Wayne and Kanye are like LeBron and Kobe. My job as someone at the forefront of the game is to leave it in a better position than when I came in. Same way that Russell [Simmons] left it to me. ’Cause this thing saved my life. Literally. So I have a responsibility to it karmically. And after that it’s on you. I did my part. I made ‘D.O.A.’ I said it. I made the statement. I made the push. Here, y’all take it from here.”

Lil Boosie Accused Of Attempting To Bribe Officer During Traffic Stop
Lil Boosie is the latest rapper added to a police lineup. A Louisiana judge ruled Monday that Sheriff Deputies used proper protocol when seizing a bag of marijuana, a gun and a cigar filled with marijuana from the rapper. Real name, Torrence Hatch, Boosie is charged with his third offense of marijuana possession and possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance. The first charge is punishable by up to 20 years in prison; the second carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years.
On top of the possession charges, an officer testified Monday in a pre-trial that the MC tried to bribe him. East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Deputy Nicholas Locicero said that after he pulled him over, Boosie told him, “I'm Boosie, how much do you want?”
When Deputy Locicero was asked how he interpreted the statement, he said he believed he was being offered a bribe. His trial is set for September 28. In spite of his upcoming trial, his album Superbad: The Return Of The Bad Azz is set for a September 15 release.

Beyonce Knowles will be crowned Woman Of The Year at the 2009 Billboard Women In Music Event. On Tuesday, August 25, Billboard has announced that the R&B diva will be awarded the title in the event that will be held on October 2 in New York City.
Woman Of The Year Award is a title given to a female recording artist that has inspired the music business with her success, leadership and new ideas. The singer, who is the only performer in the 51-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 to top the chart for 10 weeks or more with a group [Destiny's Child] and as a solo artist, deserves the honor considering her accomplishment over the past 12 months.
"Beyonce is multi-platinum artist and a multi-talented woman who clearly embodies the qualities of excellence and achievement that the Billboard Woman Of The Year Award was created to honor," said Billboard's Editorial Director Bill Werde. Juelz Santana Allegedly Threatens to Kill Wife & Gets Arrested
Juelz Santana, the rapper who's collaborated with Chris Brown, Sean Kingston and Cam'ron, was arrested at his home in New Jersey -- after his wife told cops he threatened to kill her!
Cops tell us they showed up at Santana's Teaneck home around 10:30 this morning after his wife called 911.
According to law enforcement sources, James' wife did not need medical assistance -- but she told police the threat was made in front of a child.

Jay-Z To Play Madison Square Garden On Album Release Day
On Monday (August 24), Jay-Z is expected to announce a homecoming show to celebrate the release of his upcoming album, The Blueprint 3. According to The New York Times, the gig will reportedly take place at Madison Square Garden on September 11 and serve as a benefit for the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund, a charity set up in 1985 to support the families of police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
The show will coincide with the release that day of the final chapter in the Blueprint trilogy. A new track from the album, "Off That," featuring Drake and produced by Timbaland, leaked to the Internet on Sunday night.
A spokesperson for Jay could not be reached for comment at press time to confirm the specifics of the September 11 show, and no ticket information has been announced. In a sign of the times, though, tickets for the as-yet-unannounced show were already for sale on eBay on Monday morning, beginning at $599 for a pair.
On the heels of the MSG show, Jay will be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 13, when he's also up for two Moonmen. The following day, on September 14, he'll hype his new album's release with an appearance on the debut of "The Jay Leno Show," where he'll be joined by Kanye West and Rihanna for a performance of "Run This Town."
In addition to Kanye and Rihanna, the new album will feature guest spots from Alicia Keys, Young Jeezy, Swizz Beatz, Drake, Pharrell, Kid Cudi, Mr Hudson, J. Cole and Luke Steele, the singer of Australian new-wave revivalists Empire of the Sun.
Sold Out Fabolous Concert Ends In Double Shooting In Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania authorities are investigating a double-shooting which followed a sold-out concert by rapper Fabolous. The ''Trade It All'' star played the Crocodile Rock Cafe in Allentown and enjoyed a trouble-free gig.
But violence erupted in the parking lot after fans spilled out of the venue, which ended in a shoot-out that left two revellers - a man and a woman - injured.
The pair was taken to a nearby medical facility but their conditions are unknown as WENN goes to press.
It's not the first time the venue has been rocked by violence - in 2006 four people were left needing medical attention when a fight broke out after rapper Juelz Santana cancelled a scheduled show.

Paul Rosenberg Confirms Eminem's "Relapse 2" November 17th Release date is "FAKE"
Despite our story earlier where we reported on stories online about Eminem's 2nd "Relapse" album coming out on November 17th, there apparently is no truth to it. The rumors started when Amazon's UK website posted a November 16th release date for the album (making the United States date the 17th). According to Eminem's long-time manager, business partner and Shady Records head honcho, Paul Rosenberg, there is absolutely no truth to the November 17th date, whatsoever.
"Relapse 2" will be the follow up to Eminem's album of the same name that dropped last may. The album has gone on to sell over 1,361,700 copies. This isn't the only rumor that Eminem and Paul Rosenberg have had to deal lately. Earlier this week there were false reports that Eminem died in a car crash, the stories even showed up on Yahoo news. As of now there is no release date to "Relapse 2."
Floyd Mayweather Set To Host WWE’s Monday Night Raw
As he prepares for his highly-anticipated comeback to the boxing ring, Floyd "Money" Mayweather continues to get his publicity up. So, he has signed on to serve as a celebrity guest host at the upcoming WWE Monday Night Raw.
It goes down Monday, August 24, and will air live at 9 p.m. ET on the USA Network.
Mayweather, who beat the Big Show at WrestleMania XXIV in March 2008, is a long time enthusiast and friend of the WWE.
"I can't wait to bring some 'Money May' flavor to WWE Monday Night Raw," said Mayweather. "When I fought the Big Show, it was a thrill for me to be inside the ring bringing entertainment to millions. Now that I am going to be a host, it takes my relationship and my love for the WWE to a whole new level.
"Wrestling and boxing fans alike are going to be in for a treat Monday night and on September 19 when I return to face Marquez," he continued.
On September 19, Money May will return to the boxing ring to face Juan Manuel Marquez. The fight takes place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and will also be available on HBO Pay-Per-View.

Possible Relapse 2 Release Date, November 17th?
Is Eminem's Relapse 2 hitting stores November 17th? Relapse 2 recently showed up on Amazon UK with a November 16th release date which would make the US release November 17th because the US usually gets albums one day after the UK. This would also make a lot of sense because November 17th is a Tuesday and most stores begin to sell albums on Tuesdays. Amazon is usually very reliable for album release dates. DJ Kay Slay Recruits 50 Cent, Drake & OJ the Juiceman for New LP
The Drama King is back. Mixtape DJ and New York radio personality DJ Kay Slay is prepping the release of his new album, More Than Just a DJ, and the Harlem native has called in the big guns.
50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Plies, Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Bun B, OJ Da Juiceman, Drake, Juelz Santana and Joell Ortiz are among the slew of rap heavyweights slated to make appearances on the disc.
Slay recently released the LP’s first single, “Blockstars,” featuring Plies, Jones, Busta and Ray J and another single, “Thug Luv” featuring Papoose, Maino, Red Café and Ray J is soon to follow.
“There is a lot of talk about bringing New York hip hop back,” Kay Slay said in a press release. “I was a part of the birth of our culture, and my new album does not disappoint. More Than Just a DJ is bringing real hip hop back!!”
More Than Just a DJ is set to hit shelves on October 13 via E1 Music.
''The Simpsons'' Undergo Makeover For African Continent Debut
No, there's nothing wrong with your eyes. These are the Simpsons - just a little less yellow than usual. For the first time in more than two decades, Homer and his family have been given a make-over.
At the behest of advertisers, the family have been turned into Angolans ahead of the shows first airing in the African continent.

Angolan advertising agency Executive Center have taken an original animated promotional shot of Bart, Homer, Maggie Lisa and Marge sitting together on a couch and altered it to show them as Africans.
Their yellow skin has been replaced with a much darker brown skin while Marge's blue hair has been switched for a jet black afro hairdo. Lisa's hair is now braided and the entire family are shown wearing Angolan-inspired clothing and flip flops.
The family cat has completely disappeared from the new shot. Also missing are a lamp, table and telephone which have been replaced by huge stereo speakers.
And the picture on the wall of a yacht on the ocean is now a picture of Serengeti elephant scene.
Underneath the family are the words: 'The Simpsons now in Angola.'
However, it is believed the family will keep their traditional yellow look when the series airs on digital service DStv next month.
Now a massive franchise, The Simpsons is broadcast in more than 90 countries and has been translated into more than 45 languages since it started in 1989. 441 episodes have currently been made.

Slaughterhouse Push 18K CDs in First Week, Joe Budden Fails to Chart
Despite a huge, loyal fanbase and intense presence on the Internet, lyrical supergroup Slaughterhouse failed to live up to their HitsDailyDouble projections on their Billboard 200 debut.
Last week, the industry website estimated that the group, consisting of Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce Da 5’9”, would sell between 23 and 25K CDs in its first week on the shelves. On the contrary, the crew’s self-titled disc ended up selling 18, 000 units, securing a no. 26 debut according to the Nielsen SoundScan.
At the top of the charts for the 10th week in a row is the Black Eyed Peas’s The E.N.D. Notching up one spot to no. 3 this go-round the Peas bagged up another 45,300 discs this week, making their overall sales figure stand at 917,400.
Sliding down six more spots this week to no. 16 is Brooklyn MC Fabolous. Fans of the Def Jam rapper picked up 23,700 copies of his latest album, Loso’s Way, this week— bringing his three week total to 159,600.
Four spots down is rap heavyweight Eminem at no. 20. In its 13th week on the charts Relapse was been scanned 20,600 times— making the Detroit lyricist’s overall tally 1,361,700.
Failing to make it onto The Billboard 200 was New Jersey rep Joe Budden. With little promotion, the self-proclaimed “best rapper on the world wide web”’s new solo set, The Escape Route, sold 1,700 units this week.
On the R&B side, Maxwell sits tight this week at no. 7. The Brooklyn soulster’s latest, Blacksummer’snight, moved 38,000 units, making its total stats 631,100 after six weeks. In his second week on the charts Universal Republic artist K-Jon slid down to the no. 36 spot— selling 13,400 copies of I Get Around. The disc now has a total tally of 47,000.
Next week look for the Black Eyed Peas to continue their dominance on the charts.
